Limitless Boundaries
Prayer for Missions

A Week of Prayer for Foreign Missions

First Day
Praise: Psalm 145:11-13

Praise God. For the glory of His kingdom in the earth; - for what He has accomplished; for the share He gives us in His work; for what He is doing and is going to do. II Chron. 20:14-22

Second Day
The Work and the Workers

The Work. Its extent. (Statistics of the unevangelized) II Cor. 2:16. Its difficulty. The power of Satan. Eph. 6:12. Its urgency. The worth of one soul; millions a year dying.
The Workers. The Church, the Body of Christ. Every member, without exception, redeemed to take part in that work. Phil. 2:15-16.
Pray. For a vision of the need of the world, of the glory of Christ, of the calling of believers; for all missionaries, our representatives in the field. Col. 4:2-4

Third Day
The Power for the Work- The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit. All mission work is God's own work. I Cor. 12:6. The Holy Spirit is the Mighty Power of God working in us. Eph. 3:16, 17, 20. The Spirit given at Pentecost as the power to bring the gospel to every person. John 15:26, 27; Acts 1:8. All failure owing to the loss of this power. Gal. 3:3. All genuine mission work, in giving, praying, working, only of value if the power of the Spirit is in it. Rom. 15: 16. God's promise of the Spirit meeting us, the only hope for our missions. Acts 4:31

Fourth Day
Contrition and Confession

Confession. Of the terrible failure of the Church to know and fulfill her mission. Of the lack of entire consecration to Christ's honor and kingdom. Of the lack of love and self-sacrifice in giving and praying. Hag. 1:11; Mal. 3:10; Phil. 2:21.
Contrition. Repentance, the only path to restoration. Isa. 58;1, 2, 6, 7; Gen. 42:21. Pray for the Spirit to convince of sin.

Fifth Day
The Spirit of Supplication

Prayer. Its place. The chief factor on man's side in doing God's work. The key to all heavenly blessing and power. Luke 11:13; John 14:13, 14; Eph. 3:20.
Its difficulty. It needs the crucifixion of the flesh to strive and labor (agonize). Rom. 15:30; Col. 4:12; to watch in prayer. It needs a spiritual mind to delight in fellowship with Christ, and to believe that our prayers will prevail.
Its Urgent Necessity.
More men and more money are needed; but the need of more prayer is greater, such as ushered in Pentecost. Acts 1:14
Pray. That in this week of prayer God may give us the spirit of prayer; that there may be a great increase of secret, habitual, fervent, believing intercession for the power of the Spirit in our mission work.

Sixth Day
Consecration and Service

Consecration. If confession has been real, if prayer has been honest, there must follow a new surrender. II Chron. 15:8-15. This implies a turning away from all sin and from all shortcoming to a life of entire obedience and devotion. II Cor. 5:15. It implies especially a very personal giving of one's self to the Lord Jesus and His love, to be kept by Him and used, as His own property and possession. II Tim. 2:21; Tit. 2:14. Everything depends on this: the missionary problem is a personal one.
Service. It implies that we serve Christ by seeking souls for Him. Is. 53:10. In concern for missions by interest, and giving, and praying, and fellowship with others. And also in making Him known to those around us.

Seventh Day
Faith and its Divine Possibilities.

Faith. The power in man that corresponds to the power of God. Matt.19:26; Mark 9:23. It is the power that leads to prayer, grows strong in prayer, and prevails in prayer. Mark 11:24. It is the power that overcomes the world, because Christ has overcome it, and faith lives in union with Him. John 16:33; I John 5:4,5. Missions have no foundation or law but in God's purpose, God's promise, God's power. These Divine possibilities are the food of faith. And call every mission friend to this one thing - to be strong in faith, giving glory to God. Rom. 4:20, 21.
Pray. That this week may lead to a deep revelation of God's readiness and power to fulfill His promises to His people, and a great quickening of true faith in every mission worker and helper at home and abroad.

Final Day
The Love of Christ.

Rom. 8:31. Its triumph in every human heart our aim. Phil. 2:13. Its possession our only power for living and witnessing. II Cor. 5:14. Let us once more saturate our spirits with the Moravian motivation to missions: "Get this burning thought of personal love for the Savior who redeemed me into the hearts of all Christians, and you have the most powerful incentive for missionary effort of every kind." "Oh! If we could make this problem a personal one, if we could fill the hearts of the people with a personal love for the Savior who died for them, the indifference of Christendom would disappear, and the kingdom of Christ would appear!
